Taking to Instagram Monday, the U.K. crooner shared a note to their 14.8 million followers about their forthcoming album, which was called "To Die For" and set to be released on May 1.

"I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn't feel right," Smith wrote, "so I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions."

The Oscar winner goes on to say that they're "renaming the album and pushing back the release date."

"Don't worry though, there will be an album this year, I promise!" Smith adds. "But until then I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months, which I'm incredibly excited about."

The singles "Dancing with a Stranger," "How Do You Sleep?," "To Die For," "I Feel Love," "Promises" and "Fire on Fire" were all set to appear on Smith's album.

Smith is the latest pop star to postpone the release of new music amid the coronavirus pandemic. Lady Gaga announced last week she is holding off on releasing her long-awaited sixth album "Chromatica." However, rising singer Dua Lipa bumped up the release of her sophomore album "Future Nostalgia," which dropped last Friday.
