UK Police Arrest 2 Teen Boys for Allegedly Choking Teen Boy, Forcing Him to Apologize for Being Gay

Wednesday Dec 6, 2017

The British Transport Police arrested two teenage boys in connection to an incident in October where another teenage boy was allegedly put in a headlock and forced to apologize for being gay while on London's Tube.

On the official website for the BTP, officials wrote two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assault. They are currently in custody.

It was reported this week BTP were looking for two suspects who allegedly put a 19-year-old boy in a headlock while riding the Tube in London in October, forcing him to apologize for being gay.

The victim and his friends were wearing fancy outfits, heading to an event, when the two suspects bordered the train. They soon began verbally harassing the victim, allegedly using gay slurs.

When the suspects were challenged, they became "more aggressive," BTP officials said. One of them allegedly put the victim in a headlock and throttled him. The second suspect then allegedly took the teen's phone and threatened to stab him. The suspect allegedly demanded the victim apologize for being gay. The teen was forced to do so while struggling to breathe.

The suspect then let the teen go and gave his phone back to the victim. But a fight allegedly broke out between the two suspects and the victim's friends.

"Officers would like to speak to the people shown in the images as they may have information which could help the investigation," a spokesperson for the BTP told the Independent. "Hate crime will not be tolerated by British Transport Police.

"We believe that everyone has the right to travel safety," they added. "We won't tolerate behavior where someone is targeted because they are perceived to be different, or made to feel uncomfortable on their journey."
