"X-Men" and "Lord of the Rings" star Sir Ian McKellen, 82, was spotted last weekend with the 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley at a gay Passover event called "Buttmitzvah," UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported. McKellen sported beads worn over a pink long-sleeved short. Daley was showing off a mesh string vest, the article noted.

"The event was at The Troxy in East London, a former bingo hall founded by Maurice Cheepen, a Jewish immigrant from Nazi Germany," the newspaper detailed.

Daley took to Instagram to share photos of the evening, including snaps of himself and McKellen and shots of himself with the club's crowd.

"LAST NIGHT WAS SO FUN!" Daley posted.

The Mail noted that the post followed an April Fool's gag Daley, an avid knitter, came up with in which he claimed his company Made With Love was now offering a line of "willy warmers."

"With fuel prices on the up, this'll keep your (or a loved one's) pecker perky and piping hot all year round," Daley posted along with a photo of himself showing off the novelty item.

"It's also completely universal!" Daley's post exclaimed. "Here's five ways to wear your willy warmer, winter and beyond..."

Daley suggested alternate uses for the knitted pouch and sheath might be "As a naughty necklace," "As extravagant earrings," "As a beautiful headband," or "As a wondrous pouch or Christmas tree bauble".

"Buy all five and you've got yourself a glove!" Daley's post added.

The prank didn't quite pull the wool over the eyes of his followers.

"Tom, you almost had me fooled," one wag responded, "but I don't think this would be big enough," appending the jape with a line of laughing emoticons.
