Robert Doyle READ TIME: 4 MIN.
New York, NY - Macy's announced the kick-off of Macy's Chefs A-Go-Go, a national food truck tour showcasing Macy's Culinary Council (MCC). The tour will make 13 stops across the country and will feature 10 of the world's most renowned and celebrated culinary masters. At each stop customers will enjoy a serving of the featured chef's favorite summertime recipe -- free of charge!
Boston marks the second truck stop on the tour, and features the epicurean expertise of MCC Chefs Ming Tsai and Todd English. Both will pull up to the Prudential Center on July 9th and 10th, respectively, to serve their favorite summertime recipes and dish with customers.
While the chef's dishes are free, guests can support a worthy cause by donating to Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. For every $1 donated, Feeding America can help provide seven meals to those in need on behalf of local food banks
Ming Tsai opened Blue Ginger in February 1998, and ever since, the East-West bistro and its chef have been honored with numerous accolades, including the James Beard award for the 2002 Best Chef Northeast and Second Most Popular Boston Restaurant by the Zagat Restaurant Guide for seven years running.
Ming, an Emmy Award winner, currently hosts and is executive producer of the Emmy-nominated public television cooking show Simply Ming currently in its eighth season. Ming is the author of four cookbooks: Blue Ginger, Simply Ming, Ming's Master Recipes and his 2010 fall release, Simply Ming One-Pot Meals.
Todd English is a renowned chef, restaurateur, author, entrepreneur, and television star based in Boston, Massachusetts and New York City. In 1989, English opened his first restaurant, Olives, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, which quickly drew national and international applause for English's interpretive rustic Mediterranean cuisine. In recent years, English has established Olives as one of the most prestigious names in the nation by opening locations in New York and Las Vegas.
English is a four-time James Beard Award winner and inductee into the James Beard Foundation's Who's Who in Food and Beverage in America. He has published three critically acclaimed cookbooks, created the record-breaking houseware line, The Todd English Collection, and hosts the Emmy-nominated PBS travel series Food Trip with Todd English. Todd English Enterprises includes over twenty innovative restaurants spanning the country.
If delicious free food, celebrity chefs and giving back weren't enough to inspire get up and go-go, fans who "like" Macy's on Facebook (www.facebook/macys), or follow Macy's on Twitter (@macyevents), will receive a special gift at each food truck stop (while supplies last). Fans can also follow the chefs on Twitter as they tweet live from the food truck by using the hashtag #macyschefs.
