Newport Restaurant, Spiced Pear, Receives 'Award of Excellence'

NEWPORT, RI - The celebratory chime of toasting wine glasses can be heard at The Chanler at Cliff Walk's Spiced Pear restaurant which has received the coveted "Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator magazine.

This highly lauded fine-dining restaurant features an extensive list of more than 2500 internationally sourced wines from bubbly to reds including Rose of Dom Perignon Champagne, Harlan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer to Kalon Vineyard.

The Award of Excellence follows in the footsteps of two 2011 Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards, which rated The Chanler #3 Best Inn in the US / Canada and #65 in the world. Additionally, in 2010 The Chanler earned top ranking as #1 Best Small Hotel in the U.S. and #54 Top Hotel in the World in Cond� Nast Traveler's Reader's Choice Awards.

The Spiced Pear, which is helmed by Executive Chef Thomas Duffy, presents guests with a flavorful dining journey pairing contemporary American cuisine and French subtleties. The restaurant's award-winning wine list showcases an array of renowned producers from around the globe, including the West Coast, South America, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain.
