New York, NY - "Aruba in Style," the island's first fashion event, will take place on Aruba this November 3-6, with over a week of jam-packed designer events and fashion parties. This hip new event, presented by the Aruba Tourism Authority in collaboration with IMG Fashion and the Aruba Fashion Group, promises to be a one of a kind celebration of fashion on the "one happy island."
"We are very excited to welcome such a high caliber fashion event to Aruba," said Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority. "Similar to our other widely popular events such as the Aruba International Film Festival and the annual Carnival celebration, we are confident that this new fashion event will enhance the on-island experiences for our visitors."
Aruba hosts one of the region's best retail mixes along with unique destination hotels and resorts and, of course, some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Its remarkable topography, fantastic restaurants and friendly, diverse population add to its charm and sophistication.
Organized in some of the most exciting locations on island, such as the popular Renaissance Mall, the event will bring together designers, celebrities, models, fashionable consumers and the media to experience in-season resort, ready to wear and bridal collections.
Designers who will be present at these events include local and international names such as Marcelo Quadros (Brazil), Custo Barcelona (Spain), Nicolas Felizola (Venezuela), Marga Wiemans (The Netherlands), and more. Colombian fashion icon Pilar Castao as well as former America's Next Top Model judge Nole Marin will spice up the festivities with their presence.
Brazilian designer Marcelo Quadros, known for his wonderfully fluid, flattering and feminine fashions, is creating a unique line just for Aruba in Style, as well as custom-made footwear to accompany his designs. Other well known designers are expected to present new collections during the nine runway events taking place on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5.
The "Aruba in Style" kickoff party - Lights, Camera, Fashion! - will take place on Thursday, November 3. Planned activities for Aruba in Style include unique in store shopping experiences, events open to the public and exclusive invitation-only soirees.
On Sunday, November 6, the attention will shift from the runway to the pool at the Marriott Resort in Palm Beach, where Aruba in Style participants will attend a show sponsored by Kok Optica, showcasing Emilio Pucci and Porsche eyewear with resort and beachwear by Brazilian designers.
Aruba is truly an extraordinary experience. Located only two-and-a-half hours by air from Miami and four hours from New York City, the island is ideally situated in the southern Caribbean and boasts year-round cooling trade winds and perfect weather with average annual temperatures of 82 Fahrenheit and less than 20 inches of rainfall per year.
Aruba serves up 28 luxurious hotels/resorts, championship golf courses, sumptuous spas, vibrant casinos, extraordinary international and local cuisine, exclusive shops and boutiques, exciting land and water activities, art galleries and museums, world-famous festivals and events, clubs and cafes with live music and world class beaches.
The backdrop of a cosmopolitan tropical destination with warm, hospitable people is the perfect place for first-time guests and loyal visitors.
