Louis & Marc Head to Paris' Musée des Arts Decoratifs

PARIS, France - The Mus�e des Arts Decoratifs in Paris is putting fashion in the spotlight by showcasing icons Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs from March 9 through September 16, 2012. This exhibit will highlight their contributions to the fashion world and how they used innovation to inspire the entire industry. Through showcasing both of their creations in terms of chronology, the exhibit will highlight how the industry has changed over the years.
Louis Vuitton founded the House of Louis Vuitton in 1854, and Marc Jacobs has been its artistic director since 1997. Even though an entire century separates these fashion figures, they possess strong ties through their work and artistry.
An analysis rather than a retrospective, this parallel Vuitton-Jacobs exhibit will provide new insight into the fashion world during its pivotal periods, beginning with its industrialization and ending with its globalization, focusing also on technological advances, stylistic creations and artistic collaborations. It will also be a homecoming for Louis Vuitton, who set up shop only a stone's throw from the Louvre in the home of his first great patron, Empress Eug�nie.
On the first floor of the exhibit, Louis Vuitton's iconic suitcases will be showcased in comparison to the museum's 19-century fashion and accessory collection, and on the second floor, a selection of Marc Jacobs' most famous pieces from the past 15 years at Louis Vuitton will be on display.
Currently at the Mus�e des Arts Decoratifs, through March 18, is a retrospective on Jean-Paul Goude, the first in Paris, showcasing drawings, photos and installations.
From March 19 to August 26, the exhibition Ricard SA, since 1932 will showcase the popular pastis brand Ricard in honor of its 80th anniversary, displaying the ads, campaigns and designs used throughout the years.
