The Sisters and the Jupiter Partner in Portland for NOH8

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Jupiter Hotel will host a NOH8 Campaign open photoshoot from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, May 4th, 2012. Partnering with The Portland Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the campaign team is scheduled to set up a mobile studio in the Jupiter courtyard, where NOH8 co-founder and celebrity photographer Adam Bouska will take personal portraits of attendees.

The NOH8 Campaign developed as a silent photographic protest to the passing of California's Proposition 8, a ban on equal marriage. The campaign, which uses interactive media to raise awareness for marriage equality and discrimination, is scheduled to make its first Portland, Oregon appearance. As an active partner of the LGBTQ community, the Jupiter Hotel was eager to support the underlying cause behind the photoshoot.

In further support of the NOH8 Pacific Northwest debut, the Jupiter Hotel is offering a 15% discounted room rate starting May 1st and continuing through May 8th, encouraging out-of-town travelers to make the trip. While reservations are necessary for a special room rate, guests will not be required to make reservations in order to participate in the photoshoot, to which guests should arrive at the Jupiter prepared to the photographed- makeup ready in the customary white shirt.

They will then be numbered by order of arrival, and provided with a model release, a NOH8 temporary tattoo and the signature duct tape. Funds raised by the portraits, priced at $40.00 for individual photos and $25.00 per person in couple or group shots, will be used to continue the NOH8 Campaign mission to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.

Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with NOH8 painted on one cheek in protest.

The Jupiter Hotel's participation in this event stems from a long-standing tradition of community involvement, especially in support of its LGBTQ partners.
