SF LGBT Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary Pride Party

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The SF LGBT Center announced their annual LGBT Pride Party on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at 1800 Market Street. This exciting event will both celebrate the Center's impact in the community throughout its 10 Year Anniversary and provide a community wide official launch party of the Pride season by showcasing the cultural contributions of LGBT visual and performing artists. Tickets start at $30 and are available at www.sfcenter.org. This event will be hosted by 997 NOW Radio's Fernando Ventura & Greg Sherrell and a fabulous host committee of over 18 friends of the Center.
Last year's event was incredibly successful in raising over $30,000, and this year the Center expects over 500 guests who will support the Center's ongoing innovative services and fabulous cultural programs. This building wide celebration includes:
� Family/Children - The first floor will offer arts, crafts, music and family-friendly snacks such as fruit leather, juice and popcorn. StoryCorps, a national nonprofit that records and archives stories, will be on hand to help record, share and preserve the stories that help weave into the fabric of our culture the understanding that every LGBT life matters.
� Frameline at the Center- The second floor will push boundaries with Frameline, a provocative screening of films about social issues of the LGBT community.
� Visual Arts Lounge- The third floor will feature a retrospective show representing mixed media arts of over 30 artists who have contributed to various shows at the Center over the past 10 years.
� Margaritas on the Deck- Back by popular demand, the fourth floor will transform into a decadent lounge where alcohol flows and queers mingle.
� Silent Auction- Hush as you bid on the YVA (a 24-karat gold plated vibrator valued at $2,180), fantastic travel packages, a private consultation with an Interior Designer and over 50 more specialty items and gift certificates.
� The Center and Local Businesses- Enjoy food catered food from local restaurants and performances by Leigh Crow (of Vice Palace and The Whoa Nellies), singing sensation Sister Phyllis with the Light of Day, improvisational violinist Kippy Marks and much more.
The Pride Party is generously supported by Whole Foods, Southwest Airlines and Jordan, Miller and Associates. The Center's 10th Anniversary Campaign is presented by Target and sponsored by Levi Strauss Foundation, State Farm, San Francisco Foundation and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly.
This is a 21+ event and all tickets are available as will-call. Tickets will also be available for purchase the day of event. To provide a safe environment for families and children, the first floor will have an alcohol-free designated area.
The Center is a welcoming place for our diverse LGBT community and its supporters to find innovative services and fabulous cultural programs that lead to a stronger, healthier community and a more equitable world. Its safety net programs serve the most vulnerable members of our community and provide a welcoming gathering place for all LGBT and allied people.
Each month, the Center serves over 9,000 visitors and hosts more than 200 events. The Center is located at 1800 Market Street in San Francisco.

A long-term New Yorker and a member of New York Travel Writers Association, Mark Thompson has also lived in San Francisco, Boston, Provincetown, D.C., Miami Beach and the south of France.
