G-Star Opens New Flagship Store in Cannes

Cannes, France - G-Star officially opened its new flagship store in Cannes. G-Star, known for its characteristic innovative style in the world of denim, hosted a special store opening during the 65th Cannes film festival with a night of performance, art, music and fashion. The store was officially opened by G-Star's forthcoming campaign face, American actor Caleb Landry Jones and English singer-songwriter Anna Calvi.
Young rising American actor Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First class and Antiviral) will feature in the Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign shot by photographer Anton Corbijn.
The female face that features alongside Caleb Landry Jones and the Autumn/Winter 2012 G-Star campaign itself will be revealed at the Bread and Butter tradeshow in Berlin on July 4th 2012.
The opening of the new G-Star store was attended by English singer-songwriter Anna Calvi, who gave an acoustic performance. DJ Jean-Beno�t Dunckel, formally part of the electronica duo Air and electro pop band Tomorrow's World, also gave an in-store performance.
Guests of the opening ceremony were Lou Lesage, Beatrice Rosen, Delphine Chaneac, Shirley Bousquet, Christophe Barratier and Aurelien Wiik.�

At the Cannes store opening G-Star also presented the travelling Denim Museum, containing the RAW Art Series that contextualizes denim as collectable art objects. Included in the opening event was also the G-Star Pop-up show, transforming a catwalk show into real live interaction on a mini scale.
The new G-Star flagship store in Cannes on the Cote d'Azur is a continuation of the brand's global expansion. Recently opened flagship store locations include: Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Causeway Bay in Hong Kong and Ginza in Tokyo.
A long-term New Yorker and a member of New York Travel Writers Association, Mark Thompson has also lived in San Francisco, Boston, Provincetown, D.C., Miami Beach and the south of France. The author of the novels WOLFCHILD and MY HAWAIIAN PENTHOUSE, he has a PhD in American Studies and is the recipient of fellowships at MacDowell, Yaddo, and Blue Mountain Center. His work has appeared in numerous publications.
