Harbor Hotel Provincetown Introduces Artbeat

PROVINCETOWN, MA - A series of exhibits celebrating the Provincetown Art Experience at the Harbor Hotel Provincetown is soon to become the new gathering spot for artists, art lovers, and art collectors.

The introduction of Artbeat, a series of exhibits celebrating the Provincetown art experience, begins on June 15th at the newly renovated hotel. Harbor Hotel will be home to rotating exhibits of painting, sculpture, video and film, as well as co-sponsored events with local collectors and museums - all overlooking one of the most sought-after views in the world, Provincetown Harbor.

Steve Lyons, a long-time resident of Provincetown and an artist whose mediums include painting and filmmaking, will curate Artbeat. "I'm thrilled to be working with the Harbor Hotel to create this new forum for showcasing Provincetown artists and their art. The hotel is a very special venue with interesting spaces from the fire pit to the outdoor deck and large screening area in the Whaler Lounge," says Lyons.

"Also, it's a welcoming environment where folks can relax and grab something to eat or drink while gazing upon great art with a beautiful view."

According to Lyons, the Harbor Hotel looks forward to establishing Artbeat as a must-see for residents and visitors alike. Artbeat can be enjoyed seven days a week, around the clock.

June 15 thru July 17: The Arts of Living Provincetown

Few environments in the world get the creative juices flowing like Provincetown. For centuries it has served as a beacon that leads artists to discover themselves and individualized art forms. Local artists showcase a variety of work that illustrates how the environment serves as a springboard to unleash their creativity and how that same environment translates into their art form of choice.

Artists include well-known and up-and-coming artists working in paint, photography, jewelry and installation. Featured artists include: Colin McGuire, Peg Reynolds ad Todd Warnken, among others.

July 20 thru August 24: Celebrate the Harbor with 100 Artful Views

Celebrate the Provincetown Harbor through art ranging from paintings to stained glass. Show includes 100 artful interpretations that illustrate the impact the Provincetown Harbor, one of the most spectacular views in the world, has on art and artists in Provincetown, and how artists have interpreted the Harbor over the last 100+ years.

Pieces on loan from the permanent collection of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum's (PAAM) provide a historical backdrop to the show, complimented with contemporary takes by established and up-and-coming artists from a variety of media.

August 24 thru October 8: An Artist at the Beach

Provincetown artist Steve Lyons embraces the centuries-old tradition of being "artist at the beach," re-creating the local dune-scapes and water-scapes in water-based mixed media -- done mostly on scrap board, which has become his signature.

The sizes range from studies on 4"x10" boards to 11.5"x55 inches and more. Collected by many in the US and abroad, his work has been noted for its modern-impressionistic interpretations of the locales that make up the outer cape.
