New York, NY - On the heels of the wildly successful opening of THE OUT NYC - New York's game-changing straight-friendly hotel - and the popular XL Nightclub, Cabaret, & Lounge; the complex today announced the opening of KTCHN Restaurant, a much needed culinary destination on 42nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, offering refined comfort food in a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant results from a partnership between THE OUT NYC and the owners of the Hell's Kitchen institutions, Eatery and Whym Restaurants.
KTCHN, to serve as a go-to home base for hotel guests and the local community alike, welcomes Executive Chef Dale Schnell to helm the kitchen of this thriving urban resort. Chef Schnell comes to KTCHN from his post as the executive chef of the celebrated Setai New York.
Prior to his time at The Setai, Chef Schnell spent three years at the famed Burj al Arab Hotel in Dubai, UAE. Before moving to the Middle East, Chef Schnell honed his talent in some of New York's best kitchens including time as the executive chef of Terrance Brennan's acclaimed Artisanal, as well as positions at Picholine and Amuse Restaurant.
KTCHN offers a menu of New American classics, serving the style of upscale comfort food for which Eatery Restaurant is known. For starters, diners can try the Braised Cherry Wood Smoked Bacon with crisp artichokes, golden polenta and blue cheese vinaigrette, or taste Today's Oyster, topped with white peach granite and pumpernickel.
Duane Fernandez Jr., the restaurant's mixologist, has created a cocktail menu that complements the welcoming atmosphere of THE OUT NYC, offering creative and refined libations for every taste that range from low calorie cocktails to infused vodkas.
Fun options include the "Steaming Hot," which blends Serrano chili-infused Russian standard vodka, St. Germain, and lime juice, topped with sparkling wine, or the "Hudson Caribbean," which mixes muddle tarragon and grilled pineapple, Zu Bison Grass Vodka, and lemon juice, finished off with Star Anise Foam.
Designed by Paul C. Dominguez, KTCHN features a casual and bustling street-facing caf, seating 35, as well as plush dining room, seating 100. The front caf features an aluminum floor, glass tabletops, and a marble bar all framed by a lit proscenium that gives the space a sleek, dramatic vibe. The larger dining room is sumptuously appointed with chenille fabrics, bamboo floors, and is lit by a grid of star-like lights against a dark ceiling, creating an elegantly tranquil ambience.
Open for brunch, lunch, dinner and late night dining, guests can get social with large communal tables, pack for a picnic lunch, or enjoy delivery from KTCHN in the comfort of their home or hotel room. The restaurant rounds out this dynamic urban resort where the nightclub, cabaret, guestrooms, courtyards and spa became an instant hit when they debuted earlier this year.
THE OUT NYC, located on 42nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, encompasses a 105-room hotel, the 14,000 square foot XL Nightclub, Cabaret & Lounge, KTCHN Restaurant, three courtyards, a private dining room, function space, and a wellness center.
Rates start at approximately $250. For more information, please visit www.theoutnyc.com or call 212.947.2999
