Group Holds Music Video Contest for 'Ex-Gay Pride Day'

Get out your video cameras! The newly formed "ex-gay" advocacy group, Voices of the Voiceless (VoV), is holding a music video contest where the winner will have the opportunity to debut "their music video live at the 'First Ex-Gay Pride Celebration,' scheduled to take place in Washington, DC later this month.

The video contest and "Ex-Gay Pride" event is the brainchild of Christopher Doyle and Moon Richard Cohen who founded VoV, an offshoot advocacy group of "ex-gay" ministry the International Healing Foundation. Last month, the group announced the first annual "Ex-Gay Pride Month," urging all "ex-gays," parents of "ex-gays," and allies to rally in Washington, D.C. on the first annual "Ex-Gay Pride Day" set for July 31.

"This will be a historic day for ex-gays across the country as we unite on Capitol Hill to lobby Congress to recognize former homosexuals," Doyle said in a statement on VoV's website. "Now that former homosexuals are a protected class against discrimination in Washington, D.C., this opens up the door for our unique stories to be heard and achievements recognized as we celebrate the First Annual Ex-Gay Pride Month!"

"Create your own music video! Amateurs or professionals can enter," a flyer by VoV reads. "Video should be 3-5 min. in length. Winner selected based on original song content, appeal and professionalism. Winner debuts their music video LIVE at the First Ex-Gay Pride Month Celebration in Washington, DC. Deadline to submit video July 30. Entry Fee: $30."

Yup, you read it right: You have to pay $30 to enter the contest. A cash prize for the winner is not offered.
