'Modern Family' Star Jesse Tyler Ferguson Ties the Knot

"Modern Family" star and out actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson married his longtime partner Justin Mikita in New York City on Saturday, People reports.

Ferguson's rep confirmed the marriage via People and said that playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner officiated the ceremony.

Ferguson, 37, and Mikita, 27, got engaged in Mexico last year after being in a two-year relationship. Ferguson, who is currently nominated for an Emmy, plays lawyer Mitchell Pritchett on the ABC's "Modern Family." Mikita is an actual lawyer.

As US Weekly reports, the men invited more than 200 guests to their reception, including "Modern Family" co-stars Julie Bowen, Ty Burell and Eric Stonestreet. Other celebrity guests were Jerry O'Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Zachary Quinto, Issac Mizarhi, Arnold Germer, Nigel Barker, Cat Deely, Mary Murphy, Tyce Diorio and Padma Lakshmi.

"Never been happier. XO Goodnight!" Ferguson tweeted early Sunday morning. Around the same time, Mikita simply wrote, "Husband."

Last month, soon after the Supreme Court ruled on Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act, Ferguson appeared on "The View" and said that even though he and his partner reside in California, they planned to tie the knot in New York because "that's where it was legal."

"Weddings are expensive, y'all, and we wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal," the actor said. "We're too far down the planning path to change."

The Huffington Post reports that in lieu of gifts, the couple asked to donate to their marriage equality charity Tie The Knot, which aims to help same-sex couples gain equal rights in states that do not recognize gay marriage.
