HIV Group in Roswell has Tires Slashed

Authorities are investigating a possible hate crime in Roswell after employees of an HIV support group had their tires slashed.

The Roswell Daily Record reports that Roswell police say the drivers' side rear tires of three separate vehicles were slashed Wednesday at Alianza of New Mexico.

Authorities say a suspect left a calling card in the form of a note on each vehicle. Alianza Executive Director Sashua Patton says the notes were derogatory and threatening.

Considering the text, officials say the crime could be viewed as a hate crime by New Mexico statutes, since it targeted a certain group.

Alianza of New Mexico serves the needs of people who are living with or are affected by HIV. The group tracks medical case management and medical care.
