Cleveland Rescinds Warning About Bar's 911 Calls

Cleveland officials are rescinding a letter warning that too many 911 calls had been made requesting authorities' help at a bar where 2 of the reported attacks are suspected as anti-gay hate crimes.

The Sept. 6 warning to Cocktails bar says safety forces were called to the site nine times over the past year and repeated calls create an "undue burden" on responders and taxpayers.

Safety director Martin Flask tells The Plain Dealer the letter wasn't referring to two recent attacks. A patron was assaulted by a group on Sept. 1. Four days later, police say a teenager threw rocks and yelled anti-gay slurs at patrons.

Flask says police will work with the owners to address concerns.

The bar's manager tells WEWS-TV he isn't hesitating to call police if necessary.
