Poll: Nevadans Strongly Support Marriage Equality

Nevadans are split over a proposed business tax that will be on next year's ballot but generally agree that the state's K-12 public schools system is lacking.

Those were some of the findings of a poll conducted by the Retail Association of Nevada and released Thursday.

Forty-six percent of respondents said the 2 percent margins tax would provide needed revenues for education, while 47 percent said it would lead to increased unemployment and hurt businesses.

Results suggest Nevadans favor legalizing marijuana for recreational use if all tax proceeds are used for education.

The survey also found strong support for legalizing same sex marriage and creating an intermediate appeals court.

The poll of 500 likely voters was conducted Sept. 27-29 and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
