Pa. Lawyers Accused of Stalling Gay Marriage Case

Lawyers in a key federal court challenge to Pennsylvania's law that bans same-sex marriage say the state's lawyers are using delay tactics and are making unreasonable and intrusive requests for information.
Witold J. Walczak of the American Civil Liberties Union told the judge in a Monday letter that the requests demand irrelevant, highly private and sensitive information.
Meanwhile, he tells U.S. District Judge John Jones that the state's lawyers are refusing to meet to discuss the information requests.
The July 9 lawsuit seeks to force Pennsylvania to allow same-sex marriage and recognize the marriages of same-sex couples who were legally wed in other jurisdictions.
The firm the governor's office hired, Lamb McErlane of West Chester, says it'll file a response letter shortly. Gov. Tom Corbett's office didn't immediately comment.
