Wis. GOP Candidate Links Gay Marriage to Incest

A Republican congressional candidate from Wisconsin made headlines this week after she allegedly said the removal of a ban on same-sex marriages in the state will lead to incest, MSNBC reports.

Karen Mueller, who is running for Wisconsin's GOP primary seat in the House and hopes to challenge Democrat Ron King, slammed gay marriage last week at the forum for the GOP candidates.

According to a number of news sites, Mueller took an issue with Wisconsin's ruling against the state's same-sex marriage ban and somehow linked marriage equality to incest.

"We've got, for instance, two sisters, and these two sisters want to get married," she said. "They love each other. They are committed to each other. They want to spend the rest of their life together."

She went on to say that the judge's decision will be overturned because prohibiting same-sex couples from marrying is not discrimination.

"They can get married. They just can't get married to each other," Mueller said.

Muller is a civil rights and employment law attorney. MSNBC notes that she recently took to her Facebook and called for President Barack Obama's impeachment because of the "lawlessness" she said is happening in Washington, D.C. before saying "the Constitution is being shredded."

Earlier this month, a federal judge found that Wisconsin's ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. But a week after the ruling, the decision was halted.
