Man Suspected in Double Murder of Seattle Gay Men Arrested in NJ

A man who authorities believe killed two gay men in Seattle last month was arrested in New Jersey Friday, Komo News reports.

Ali Muhammad Brown, 29, was taken into custody in West Orange, N.J., according to Seattle police.

Brown faces two counts of aggravated murder in the first degree. Police believe he is connected to the murders of Dwone Anderson-Young, 23, and Ahmed Said, 27 last month.

It was reported earlier this month that police said Brown, 26, may have met the men on a social networking app for gay and bisexual men, like Grindr.

According to KIRO TV, Said met a friend he talked to on Grindr or Jack'd outside R Place, a gay club in Seattle. A friend of Said said they did not remember meeting this "friend" before and added that they were "creeped out" by the man later identified as Brown.

Another suspect in the crime, Matalepuna Malu, 26, turned himself into the Seattle Police Department on June 8 and was arrested. He was not charged with the murders, however, but was held on unrelated second-degree charges from an assault case in lieu of a $100,000 bail.

Investigators say Brown may have fled to New Jersey after the murders, Komo News reports. According to West Orange police, Brown was wanted in connection with an armed robbery and attempted carjacking in the city on June 29.

Seattle police are looking at the murders as a possible anti-gay hate crime as both victims were shot after leaving a gay nightclub.
