Teen Pleads In Assault Of Gay Man In Detroit

A 16-year-old boy has pleaded no contest to assault for his part in an attack on a young gay man during a gay pride celebration in Detroit.
The boy made the plea Wednesday in Wayne County Juvenile Court. A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.
Authorities say the teen was part of a group of males who punched and kicked 20-year-old Christin Howard on June 8. Defense attorney Jeff Schwartz has said the boy made a bad decision to be among adults when Howard was hurt.
A cellphone video shows Howard fighting back. He sustained a broken finger and bruises on his face and back. #The teen faces sentencing Aug. 26.
