Dolly Parton Accepts ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Joining a long list of celebrities and everyday people accepting the new ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funds for Lou Gehrig's disease is country music star Dolly Parton, who completed the challenge in Tennessee, and posted the results on YouTube.

This was not on my bucket list, but a lot of people challenged me," said Parton. "Kenny Rogers challenged me; he said 'You'll never do it, with your false hair, your false eyelashes, your false nails.' Kenny you'll be surprised by what all I do with my falseness for a good cause, and a good laugh."

Parton's two nieces Hannah and Rebecca did the honors, tipping two large green buckets of ice water onto the country superstar's head. Once Parton ditched her earrings -- and her nieces added extra ice to the two buckets -- the dumping ensued, with Parton taking it all good naturedly in stride.

"Kenny, you gotta pay extra for the wet T-shirt contest," said Parton, laughing.

Towleroad reported that last month, Parton, who is a beloved gay icon, announced plans to eventually release an LGBT dance album, saying, she already had "several songs that are very positive towards the gay community."

"I have a song called 'Just A Wee Bit Gay.' It's a great little dance tune, it's funny and it's got a lot of comedy in it," said Parton. "I do write a lot of songs along those lines with people that are different and are just themselves."
