Platinum-selling recording artist Demi Lovato embarks on her fourth major concert tour, the "Demi World Tour," starting September 6, and she makes two stops in the Sunshine State. Demi stops in Miami on Sunday, September 14, performing at the American Airlines Arena at 7 p.m. She moves on to Orlando the next day, Monday, September 15, performing to crowds at the Amway Center, also at 7 p.m. Christina Perri, known for her viral single "Jar of Hearts," and MKTO, known for their top 20 pop hit "Thank You," will go on tour with Demi and will open for her in both Miami and Orlando.
Demi Lovato became internationally known in 2008 at the age of sixteen, when, within the span of a year, she starred in the Disney Channel movie "Camp Rock" and began filming her own sitcom, "Sonny with a Chance." She recorded and released her first album that year as well, titled "Don't Forget," which earned a gold certification. Demi's successive releases, "Here We Go Again" (2009), "Unbroken" (2011), and "Demi" (2013) all went platinum and helped her transition from Disney princess to pop music queen. She gained many fans during her two seasons as judge and mentor on the FOX reality competition "The X Factor." The 22-year-old singer is very popular with fans on social media, amassing over 22 million Twitter followers and over 33 million fans on Facebook.
Her current album, the aforementioned "Demi," topped iTunes charts in over 50 countries around the world, including the United States and Canada. The leading single off the Demi album, "Heart Attack," earned triple-platinum certifications in the United States, becoming her second single to reach such high levels of sales (after "Give Your Heart a Break").
The Demi World Tour is the second tour promoting the album "Demi." The first brought Demi Lovato to Sunrise and Tampa, Florida in February of this year; the Demi World Tour takes her to Orlando and Miami this time, cities she didn't visit during her previous tour. The set list for the Demi World Tour hasn't been released yet, but it should be similar to her last tour, the "Neon Lights Tour." On that tour, she performed such favorite songs as "Remember December" and "Give Your Heart a Break" along with signature songs from the Demi album, like "Heart Attack," "Made in the USA," and "Neon Lights." One song from the "Demi" album that became a top-selling hit in the last few months is the gay-friendly "Really Don't Care," featuring English singer Cher Lloyd (who opened during her last tour); it is sure to be featured prominently during this new tour.
The Demi World Tour is produced and promoted by Live Nation and sponsored by Citi, Tampax and the Always Radiant Collection. Demi's Miami and Orlando tour stops are part of a 25-city North American leg of a worldwide concert tour. For more information, visit demilovato.com and livenation.com.
