5 Facials (and More) for Fall
Ian Michael Crumm READ TIME: 5 MIN.
With the summer officially over (sorry for the reminder), it's a great time to assess skin voracity and consider getting "some work" done before cool temperatures come. Switching moisturizers will help as wintery dry skin sets in, but not much is quite as rejuvenating as a trip to the spa. From refreshing facials and foot treatments to being surrounded by chocolate scents, EDGE offers up some of the coolest services to fulfill (soon to be) wintery blue needs.
One Step at a Time
Too many foot miles with little to no upkeep? The Spell at LUSH works magic on feet. The treatment includes a foot soak, scrub and massage. LUSH therapists use reflex points to "treat" the body and induce relaxation. There is also a scalp massage included with this service. Each LUSH treatment has a dedicated song by UK folk musician Simon Emmerson. Still need extra mood setting? Rooms are decked out with lights that coordinate with each treatment.

A Second Cup, Please
Looking to stimulate and energize the mind? The Seattle Coffee Scrub at Elaia Spa incorporates one of America's favorite beans with Dead Sea salt, sweet almond, coconut and avocado oil, and cinnamon to rejuvenate the body and mind. The cinnamon and natural oils work to soften the skin as the coffee beans, almond and salt combine to create an amazing exfoliating environment on the skin. Coffee, a natural stimulant, also improves microcirculation, reduces swelling, flushes away toxin and delivers oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the surface of the skin. If drinking coffee isn't enough, why not try it on your skin, too?

Washing Away That Achy Feeling
This is a whole body experience. First, an herbal salt scrub is used to exfoliate the skin before a full body massage. Next, a deeply hydrating aromatic hair mask to restore shine follows a scalp massage. After the hair is conditioned, experience a Thaigo Hydra-Moisture Source facial meant to improve skin texture. After the facial, a warm water soak infused with essential oils purifies hands and feet as they're massaged. In Chinese, Chuan means flowing water and the Chuan Spa incorporates this concept into its treatments. This whole body experience concludes with a water-based soak inline with the spa's ideals on body equilibrium via water therapy.

How Sweet Is This?
This spa is a bit off the EDGE beaten path; Hershey is about 95 miles from our Philadelphia local portal, but the treatments are worth the trip. For all of the chocolate enthusiasts out there, The Spa at the Hershey Hotel has a tasty selection of chocolate treatments. And, yes, that's the same Hershey as Hershey chocolate bars. Get a Cocoa Massage and be surrounded by chocolate scented massage oil while being rubbed in a classic Swedish method. Want something more potent? Try the Whiskey Facial because who doesn't love whiskey with his chocolate? This treatment starts by taking a shot of whiskey, then skin cleansing and exfoliation (with the help of a malt extract) followed by moisturizing. Clients enjoy a face, neck and shoulder massage and an anti-aging mask with this treatment.
