Kathy Griffin to Replace Joan Rivers on 'Fashion Police'?
Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Rumor has it that comedian Kathy Griffin will replace the late Joan Rivers on the E! show "Fashion Police," the Hollywood Reporter reports.
Producers are narrowing down their decision with Griffin, 53, who was Rivers' protg, at the head of the pack. Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, said "Fashion Police" will continue after some speculated that E! would pull the show after the comedian's sudden passing.
"Fashion Police" is scheduled to return for the Golden Globes on January 12, which allows E! officials three months to find a replacement. A source told the Hollywood Reporter that there has been a shortlist of people to fill Rivers' fabulous shoes. Both men and women are contenders.
The source also refuted a Page Six report that Griffin was pushing for the spot while Rivers was in a coma last month. They added that there has yet to be a formal conversation with Griffin and the network executives, as they feel not enough time has passed since Rivers' death in early September. E! officials also feel Melissa, who will continue as executive producer, should be involved on selecting a new host for the bitchy fashion show.
