Video: Boo Hoo's From Bigoted Baker at Value Voter Summit

The dais at the Value Voter Summit last weekend was the stage for crocodile tears when Melissa Klein, the bigoted baker from Oregon who told her tale of how she is being persecuted for protecting her First Amendment right to illegally discriminate against gay clients, Talking Points Memo reports.

While describing how much her job as a baker of wedding cakes means to her, Klein broke down into sobs.

"For me personally when I would sit down with them I just would want to know everything about her wedding," she said. "I'd want to know about the flowers, her dress, the centerpieces, her colors, the way her hair is going to be. I would even want to talk about 'where are you going on your honeymoon?'"

Considering her recurrent use of feminine pronouns, one would think that an event with two brides would have made Klein doubly happy. Guess again.

It's a "violation of my conscience," Klein said between sobs. "I mean it's a violation of my religious freedom."

As reported by the Huffington Post, in January 2013, Klein's Oregon business, Sweet Cakes By Melissa, refused service to a lesbian couple looking for a wedding cake. State officials found that Klein was breaking the state's non-discrimination law which covers sexual orientation. She and her husband are now facing a $150,000 lawsuit. Rather than to serve gay clients, the pair shuttered their bakery, but not before baking cakes for the "ex-gay" therapy ministry Restored Hope.
