Trans Woman Murdered in Brazil, Shot 3 Times in Face

Police say that a Brazilian transgender woman was murdered last Wednesday after being shot three times in the face. This incident comes not long after it was reported that 216 LGBT people in Brazil have been murdered so far this year.
According to Gay Star News, Gull do Santos, 35, was murdered last week while she walked down a street in Rio Largo a municipality in Alagos province. Police say two men on a motorcycle approached the woman and fired several shots. They fled the scene before they could be identified. It was reported that dos Santos died at the scene.
GSN reports that dos Santos was killed in a busy area, but witnesses did not give much useful information to authorities except that there was more than one man who was involved in the incident.
The killing comes after a new report was released by the Gay Group of Bahia collected data and found that there have been 216 LGBT related murders this year. According to the report, nearly 60 percent of the murders were of gay men while 35 percent of the murders were of "transvestites." Four percent were of lesbians.
