Summer '14 is a wrap. Pack up your tank tops, put away those flip-flops and, for all that is good and kind in the universe, please throw away those denim cut-offs! Fall '14 is here and with it comes some of the coolest, most wearable clothes this fashion editor has seen in years.
HERE ARE FIVE OF THE BIGGEST TRENDS TO COVET AND THE FIVE BEST DESIGNERS TO SHOP THIS SEASON:
DENIM ON DENIM - The Texas Tuxedo. Once a no-no, now noth- ing is fresher. There's just one caveat: Do not match washes.
THE DESIGNER - dsquared2 The duo produced brilliantly styled runway looks not for the weak of heart.

PLAID - It's no longer just for preppies or school uniforms. Plaid looks super luxe right now, especially in color.
THE DESIGNER - Billy Reid The designer played with multiple plaids in genius ways this Fall.

WIDE LEG PANTS OVERSIZED BLAZERS - With season after season of the skinny jean, which spawned the skinny trouser and shrunken blazer, designers are having an '80s moment. Think David Byrne in Stop Making Sense.
THE DESIGNER - Calvin Klein
STATEMENT COAT - If you invest in one major piece this fall/winter it should be a great overcoat. You can't go wrong in colors like olive, grey, camel
or navy.
THE DESIGNER - Canali. The Italian fashion house sent one great coat after another down their Fall/Winter runway.

HATS - "Mad Men" put them back on our radar and Pharrell made them de rigueur. The hat is this Fall's most important accessory.
