Project NunwayLA Benefits The Life Project LA

On Saturday, November 8 at West Hollywood Park Auditorium, the Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and the City of West Hollywood present "Project NunwayLA: Dreamscape", an outrageous fashion show and designer competition. The event is expected to raise more than $10,000 for the local charities Life Group LA and Being Alive LA.
"The Life Group La is a grassroots org that provides educational and emotional support for people either infected or affected by HIV so they can make informed choices about their healthcare and general well-being, through our POZ Life Weekend seminars, again for people infected or infected, so people who are positive can come with their negative partner, a family member or caregiver, so the whole family unit is there to be part of the healing process that occurs when everybody comes together," said Sunnie Rose Berger of The Life Group LA.
The event, titled "Project NunwayLA: Dreamscape: Surrealism in Fashion" features special guest appearances by Leigh Hetherington from the cast of "Rent," drag activist Momma, gender illusionist Grace Towers and gender blending performance artist Glitz Glam. Other guests include emcees Sister Erotica and Saint Momma.
Judges include Jai Rodriguez, drag celebrity and porn auteur ChiChi La Rue, professional designers and instructors Carlos Vasquez and Mary Norris Brannon, and Perry Ash, winner of Project NunwayLA 2013.
The Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence anticipate an extraordinary fashion experience of the wildest imagination. A blasphemous queer fashion show like no other, this annual event invites designers and creative artists to stretch the absolute limits of creativity, beauty and concept. Project NunwayLA is about fashion, art, queers and over-the-top vision!
More than 25 designers including well-established professionals, Hollywood veterans, Emmy-winning makeup artists and fashion savvy renegades will create one-of-a-kind fashionable art for Project NunwayLA. They are currently designing and producing garments exclusively for this amazing fashion show.
Project NunwayLA challenges participants to create outrageous fashion that embodies surrealism, avant-garde creativity and over-the-top fashionable art. This year's event will feature an exclusive VIP After Party hosted at Micky's West Hollywood in the Upstairs Lounge.
Money raised during "Project NunwayLA" will help the continuation of The Life Group's work. The purpose of the event is to raise HIV awareness and to raise much needed funds for the HIV services provided by The Life Group LA.
