Designers 'Fashion For Action' Benefits Housing Works

On Thursday, November 20, fashion-forward folks will gather at the Rubin Museum of Art for "Fashion For Action," a fundraiser to benefit Housing Works.

"What could be more fabulous than an evening rubbing shoulders with superstar fashion designers Zac Posen and John Varvatos? How about mingling with host Bevy Smith of Bravo's Fashion Queens or style maker Robert Verdi? Still not enough for you?" write organizers. Fashion for Action began in 2004 with founding chair Andre Leon Talley and the late Natasha Richardson at the helm. Past event chairs have also included Thom Browne, Patricia Clarkson, Francisco Costa, Dree Hemingway, Marc Jacobs, Natalie Joos, Derek Lam and Rachel Roy. Together with the support of the fashion and beauty community, the benefit has grown to raise $400,000 in 2013 and almost $5 million towards the fight against HIV/AIDS in New York City.

Proceeds will benefit Housing Works, a vibrant, healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts. Housing Works is the largest grassroots AIDS organization in the U.S., as well as the largest minority-controlled AIDS organization.
