'Sandra Bernhard Is #Blessed' Hits Joe's Pub For New Year's Eve

The inimitable Sandra Bernhard returns to Joe's Pub at The Public with her all new show, "Sandra Bernhard is #blessed," as part of her annual year-end residency, which starts December 26 and leads up to her New Year's Eve spectacle.
"I feel hashtag #blessed," Bernhard told EDGE in a recent interview. "Seriously, it's always fun to be in New York City and just come home every night and not be out on the road. And to play in front of a New York audience - the best audiences in the world -- trying out new material, challenging myrself at the end of the year, not just resting on my laurels but taking it to the next level and shedding my skin."
The new show will contain Bernhard's unique, sharp blend of hysterical insight and outspoken views, with rock-n-roll, cabaret, stand-up and a little burlesque. The show also features Bernhard's band The Flawless Zircons, who perform with her at sold-out venues in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and points in between.
"I always cover a lot of what's in the moment, from Cuba to Kim Kardashians' ass to the royal visit, then real personal stories, things that have happened throughout the year. Like I spent Thanksgiving at somebody else's house this year and not my own, so there's funny stories about Thanksgiving, my family, my travels and life, all interwoven with great, eclectic music by my band The Flawless Zircons. You're taking a little journey of 2014 with Sandy in 75 minutes," said Bernhard.
When asked about holiday or New Year's Eve traditions with her partner Sara Switzer and their daughter, Cicely, Bernhard said that they enjoy both Hanukkah and Christmas by, "going to shows, my daughter's doing things with her friends -- it's just cozy and fun and a chance to have a good time."
And she deserves a little break; Bernhard has been a virtual whirlwind this year. She has returned to television, guest starring on episodes of Fox TV's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and in a recurring role on the Peabody Award-winning family drama "Switched at Birth."
In addition, her previous show, "I Love Being Me, Don't You?" played to sold-out crowds for an extended run last summer in Los Angeles. The album version of the show was released on Rooftop Records last fall, and she has been touring almost non-stop since.
But that doesn't mean she's too busy to end 2014 with a bang, and with friends old and new at Joe's Pub. So why is spending New Year's Eve with Sandra Bernhard the best idea you ever had?
"Because I bring the fun, glamour, emotion, craziness, and drama in a way that nobody else possibly could," said Bernhard.
"Sandra Bernhard is #blessed" runs from Dec. 26-31 at Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette St. in New York City. For tickets or information, call 212-967-7555 or visit joespub.com
