McGovern Celebrates Women Singer/Songwriters

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Maureen McGovern celebrates the women singer/songwriters from the 1960s to the 1980s who changed the texture of American Popular Music with their deeply personal and powerful songs, Saturday, March 7 at The RRazz Room in New Hope, PA. Showtime is 8 p.m.

"Sing, My Sisters, Sing!" includes works by iconic women singer/songwriters: Annie Lennox, Janis Ian, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, Laura Nyro, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and Melissa Manchester, among others.

Maureen also pays tribute to her "early singing sisters:" Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Peggy Lee, who paved the way by writing their own signature songs. Maureen's performance will include iconic songs like "Natural Woman," "I Feel The Earth Move," "At Seventeen," "That's The Way I Always Heard It Should Be," "God Bless The Child," and more!

She has a voice that defies categorization. In fact, she's been called "The Stradivarius Voice." The RRazz Room is honored to welcome multiple Grammy nominee Maureen McGovern to our stage. Broadway audiences know her from her acclaimed, Drama Desk-nominated performances in "Little Women," "The Threepenny Opera," "Nine," and "The Pirates of Penzance" as well as off-Broadway's "Brownstone," but the world over knows Maureen as "The Disaster Theme Queen." Her recording of "The Morning After" from "The Poseidon Adventure" hit number one on the Billboard charts and won an Oscar, not to mention "We May Never Love Like This Again" from "The Towering Inferno" and the sublime "Can You Read My Mind" from "Superman." Since then, Maureen has dazzled audiences throughout the world with her singularly eloquent musical style, in addition to a series of critically-heralded recordings.

"Sing, My Sisters, Sing!" plays Saturday, March 7 at The RRazz Room (6426 Lower York Road, New Hope, PA). For more information and tickets visit www.therrazzroom.com or call 888.596.1027.
