HBO to Cancel 'Looking'?

It's a fear many fans of HBO's "Looking" have had for awhile now: According to reports, the cable network plans on pulling the plug on the San Francisco-based show about three gay friends.

According to the Backlot.com, Vanity Fair celebrity journalist Kevin Sessums took to his Facebook Tuesday night and wrote that "Looking" star Jonathan Groff, who plays Patrick, told him that HBO would be nixing the series.

But some good news: Just like what HBO did with the short-lived "Hell Ladies," there may be a "Looking" movie in the works.

"I had an email from my friend Jonathan Groff when I got home from my reading tonight at Books Inc. telling me that HBO announced today that it was canceling Looking but that it would film a movie of the series to air in order to wrap things up instead of leaving things hanging. This makes me sad but life - and television series - are about moving on at some point," Sessums wrote.

It should be noted that there has been no official word from HBO yet about the fate of "Looking."

Ratings for "Looking" have been poor, so it may not come to a surprise to some if HBO officially announces the show's cancelation. Still, over the last few weeks, a number of publications, including EDGE, the A.V. Club and Grantland, have written pieces as to why "Looking" is an important TV show and why it needs to be on the air.
