Asian Task Force Against DV Stages "Vagina Monologues"

On April 11-12, Boston's Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK) in tandem with the Actors Refuge Repertory Theatre presents "Vagina Monologues 2015 - Out of a Cocoon." The event will be held at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center.
"One in three women across the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That's ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS," writes VDay.org. "We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness -- one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable. This year we are rising for Revolution. We invite you to join us."
The event features Bianca Starks, Debbie Friedlander, Elainy Lima, Genevieve Chason, Kimberly Holliday, Liana van Water, Lucy Ye, Roxanne Morse, Neha Sharma, Salma Ayyash, Sonya Joyner, Tricia Chang. Music is by Eri Saito. Directors are Christina Chan and Irfan Malike, with choreographer Pam Newton and Producer Mariko Kanto.
The event is part of the One Billion rising event, and is sponsored by the Kanto Foundation, Inc.. All proceeds will benefit ATASK. A Q&A with ATASK follows the production.
"Vagina Monologues 2015" will be held at 1 p.m. on April 11-12 at Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, 38 Ash St., Boston MA 02111. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 at the door.
