HBO's 'Looking' Movie to Film in September

Fans who were bummed out that HBO pulled the plug on its gay dramedy "Looking" took solace in knowing that the network would wrap up the series with a TV movie. Now there have some details on the upcoming special.

"Looking" actor Frankie Alvarez, who plays Agustin, commented on the cancelation of the show and when speaking with Vulture during the premiere of HBO's "Veep."

"You know, it was sad," he said. "We all got together, we had dinner. We kind of poured liquor out for our gay homies. It was a bummer."

Alvarez then talked commented on the "Looking" special.

"It's a feature-length film that doesn't adhere to an episodic structure," he told Vulture "So I think a lot of fans who wanted a longer episode are going to get one long, two-hour episode. I think that will be [a] blessing in a lot of ways: We'll get to close it out the way everyone wants to close it out, and then, hopefully, we'll continue to be friends ... supporting each other in future projects."

According to Vulture, the actor is in the dark when it comes to plots and other story details. He said, however, it will shoot in September.

"The writers have the whole summer to really make it the best possible thing," he added.

HBO officially announced it was canceling "Looking," which centered around three gay friends -- Patrick, Agustin and Dom -- who live in San Francisco, on March 25 but the network also hinted at a TV movie in order to finish up all the loose ends the series had at the end of season two.

"After two years of following Patrick and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special," an HBO spokesperson said in a statement. "We look forward to sharing this adventure with the shows loyal fans."

Shortly after the announcement, fans clamored and expressed their outrage and disappointment on social media. Care2 started a petition to bring back the series and currently has 67,789 signatures out of the 68,000 needed. You can sign the petition here.

The cancelation of "Looking" wasn't a shock to some as the show brought in poor ratings despite it being a critical success.
