New In Travel: Dogs, Men in Heels, Disney River Cruises

DOGS AT TELLURIDE
Telluride, Colorado, claims more dogs than people, and visitors are invited to bring their dogs along, too.
Leashed dogs are allowed on several area hiking trails, including the trail up to Bridal Veil Falls, and the Priest Lake Trails, where you can even go camping with your canine.
Dogs must be leashed in Telluride and Mountain Village, but there are "puppy parking" spots in front of restaurants and shops, and lots of waste-bag and trash can locations so that it's easy to pick up after your dog.
You can even bring your dogs on gondolas that run between Telluride and Mountain Village. Pick the cabins that are marked pet-friendly on the windows. You can also take your dog on the Galloping Goose, Telluride's shuttle bus system.
More than half of local inns and hotels and many condos and vacation rentals permit dogs for an additional fee. Details at http://www.visittelluride.com .
MEN IN HEELS
The Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, Canada, is hosting a new exhibit opening May 8 called "Standing Tall: The Curious History of Men in Heels."
The show looks at men's footwear from the early 17th century to the present, including its history, variety, function and significance. The exhibit will be on view through June 2016.
The show also serves to celebrate the museum's 20th anniversary.
Exhibits will range from military boots to cowboy and biker boots to footwear worn by John Lennon and Elton John, along with footwear from the musical "Kinky Boots" and current heeled fashions for men. Some early examples of men's heeled footwear were heeled riding boots that helped men secure their feet in stirrups. Details at http://www.batashoemuseum.ca.
DISNEY TO START RIVER CRUISES
River cruising has been growing in popularity around the world, and now Adventures by Disney is joining the trend.
The brand will launch its first river cruising adventure beginning in 2016 on Europe's Danube River. The itinerary will include eight destinations in four countries, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
Stops will range from revisiting scenes from the movie "The Sound of Music" in Salzburg, Austria, to exploring Devin Castle in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Adventures by Disney is sailing with AmaWaterways on a 170-passenger vessel designed with families in mind.
