In Touch Report: Josh Duggar Involved in Underage Sex Case

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Allegations have emerged connecting Joshua Duggar, eldest of the Duggar children from the hit TLC reality show "19 Kids and Counting," to an underage sex scandal. The exclusive report by In Touch Weekly that cites "multiple sources" involve charges that date back to 2005, when Duggar was a minor.

According to In Touch, Josh's father, Jim Bob, turned his then teenage son into the Arkansas Stat Police when he allegedly caught him leaving a young girl's bedroom.

"I saw and read the report and it clearly stated that Jim Bob brought his son Josh into the Arkansas State Police and spoke to a state trooper about Josh's involvement in alleged inappropriate touching with a minor," said one source to In Touch.

Multiple sources who claim to have seen the police report say the charge being pursued against Duggar was sexual assault in the fourth degree.

In Touch reports a technicality prevented any action against Duggar as the state trooper who took the initial report never followed up and was later convicted on child pornography charges. He is currently serving a 56-year prison sentence. By the time the Crimes Against Children Division and local police got involved, the three-year statute on limitations had passed.

Josh Duggar was never prosecuted.

The officer who led the investigation has been identified by multiple sources as Sgt. Darrel Hignite.

"I can't comment or discuss [this case]," Hignite told In Touch. "Because of the sensitive nature and because it involved a juvenile."

A former used car salesman with a home-schooled high school education, Josh Duggar currently serves as executive director of Family Research Council Action, the legislative arm of the SPLC designated anti-gay hate group. His thin CV led many to believe that the FRC created the new position for him so that they could cash in on his name recognition from the TLC reality series "19 Kids and Counting."
