Levi's Expands Pride Collection
EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.
A long-standing ally to the LGBTQ community, the Levi's Pride 2015 collection has expanded to include tees, a tank, jean shorts and collectible pieces such as a commemorative patch and a limited-run Trucker jacket.
For inspiration, the Levi's design team created a timeline of monumental moments in gay rights history with the intention of honoring one moment each year. Looking back at the fight for equality, it was clear that the Stonewall riots of 1969 would be the first moment Levi's would honor and begin this tradition. Stonewall is considered the first gay rights protest prompting the foundation of gay rights organizations. It is the pinnacle representation of the fight for equality.
"Levi's has always celebrated one's authentic self expression. With the 2015 Pride collection, we wanted to continue building a voice within the community by honoring its history," said Chief Merchandising Officer Grant Barth. "When you think of the first fight for LGBTQ equality, you think Stonewall. The idea is to start with the most significant rallies for equality and continue honoring moments that have brought the community forward."
The Pride Collection will be available through the end of June on www.levi.com and at select stores in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Portland, San Francisco, Toronto, Washington DC. Prices range from $18-$98 with net proceeds benefiting the Stonewall Community Foundation.
