Register for July 11th's Saddle Up LA, to Raise Funds for Life Group LA

The Life Group LA's yearly fundraising event, the 10th Annual "Saddle Up LA" an AIDS Benefit Horseback Trail Ride and Country BBQ which will be held Saturday, July 11 in the beautiful and majestic Griffith Park Mountains.

"It's not a typical fundraiser; it's not another gala," said Berger. "People get on the trail and get dirty, have something to eat, then shop the silent auction. People can buy tickets to just the barbeque, they can support us by riding and raising money, they can raise money and get a free ticket, or they can just buy a ticket."

Registration is open now for those who want to sign up for the event and help raise money. The goal of this years' event is $100,000. All money raised helps the continuation of The Life Group's work. If you don't have your own horse, not a problem, 75 horses are being made available on a first come-first reserved basis but you do not have to ride, you can come to the BBQ!

The purpose of the ride is to raise awareness of the fact that the AIDS Pandemic is not over and to raise much needed funds for the HIV services provided by The Life Group LA. It is also an affirmation of the power of compassion and a demonstration that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things.

Founded in 2005, The Life Group LA provides education, empowerment and emotional support to persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS that they may make informed choices regarding their healthcare and personal well being.

Using a variety of methodologies such as peer support groups and the POZ Life Weekend Seminar, The Life Group LA creates educational and empowering experiences in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment.

Saddle up LA 2014 will be another ride to remember! It will honor not only those who have died of AIDS but will honor those of us who live on whether infected or affected by HIV.

On May 29, The Life Group LA was honored for their community work with a Commendation from the City of West Hollywood. Human Services Manager of Social Services David Giugni was on hand from the City of West Hollywood to present Sunnie Rose Berger, the co-founder and Executive Director of The Life Group LA, the Commendation during the kick-off party for their yearly fundraising event Saddle UP LA.

"We are very grateful for the support the City of West Hollywood has given us since our inception," said Berger. "They understand the value of what our POZ Life Weekend Seminars offer the community and want to help insure we are here for those who need us when they need us and not only in their city, but in greater LA as well."

Ten years ago, a group of dedicated volunteers came together and decided that the HIV/AIDS community needed a place to come and find the tools necessary to live with this life-altering disease. Sometimes referred to as the little foundation that could, this summer marks the 10th anniversary of Life Group LA. They continues going strong offering a safe place for the HIV/AIDS community through outreach programs and the POZ Life Weekend Seminars, assisting those in our Los Angeles community who are infected and affected with HIV and AIDS.

Berger, the co-founder and Executive Director of Life Group LA, is the one who keeps the train chugging along! Berger's connection into the HIV/AIDS community began with her work at LA Shanti and in 2005 she establishing The Life Group LA.

Her grassroots organization has helped thousands of people during the past 10 years with an ongoing mission to reach into communities of need including, West Hollywood, Long Beach, Pasadena, San Diego, Palm Springs and even out-of-state in places such as Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Through The Life Group LA's nationally recognized free program, The POZ Life Weekend, support is offered to the LGBT community, straight communities, mothers, fathers, families, partners and anyone who desires to build a greater understanding of what it means to be infected or affected with HIV and AIDS.
