Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension - Unrated Cut
Ken Tasho READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Take away the cash cow "Paranormal Activity" name and you'd be left with just another generic found-footage film. On Blu-ray, the latest release "Paranormal Activity - The Ghost Dimension" touts an unrated version, along with the theatrical edition, along with an unrated version that includes an alternate ending. Without having seen the original in the theater (and only viewing 2 "Paranormals" in the past), I can't say if any of them are really better than the other.
But here's what basically takes place in this 6th edition in the hopefully last "Paranormal Activity" franchise:
A young family moves into a house that was re-built on the property of a haunted, burned home. (See the similar "The Amityville Horror")
Old 1980's VHS tapes of the house's prior tenants are found and watched. (See the much better "Sinister")
The youngest daughter starts to act strange, whereas she becomes possessed and kidnapped. (See the much superior "Poltergeist")
The family runs around in circles around the house in terror from ghostly spirits. (See the redundant but enjoyable "The Conjuring")
So what does Paramount's costly Blu-ray combo pack have to offer? There are close to 20 deleted scenes to watch, all of which have been inserted into what is known as the "unrated version." Unless you're a huge fan of the series, "The Ghost Dimension" Blu-ray cheats its fan base.
And with a price close to $40, I'd pass on this un-scary Blu-ray and wait for a much better horror movie.
