Marti Gould Cummings Welcomes Alan Cumming to Stage Fright For 'Cummings with Cumming'
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Each week at Therapy Lounge in New York, Marti Gould Cummings gives theatre lovers a backstage pass with "STAGE FRIGHT," a show where he interviews Broadway's best and brightest. "I love being the gay Oprah," says Cummings, a downtown artist whose shtick is drag, but not the typical diva glam as seen in clubs and on TV. His leans more towards androgyny, sporting beautiful dresses and heels while still looking very much like a man. "I put together a mix of Jimmy Fallon meets Carol Burnett meets Lady Bunny for a show all my own."
On Monday, March 14 at 10:00 pm, Marti Gould Cummings welcomes stage and film star Alan Cumming to Stage Fright at Therapy Lounge (348 West 52nd Street, NYC), along with Broadway star Matt Doyle.
"Alan has been an important figure in my life for a long time," says Marti Gould Cummings. "From watching him on TV and in movies to studying his performance in Broadway's 'Cabaret' in high school, to being acquainted with him through the acting community. I am thrilled to have him join our show!"
"STAGE FRIGHT" is a Q&A style talk show. Marti will sit with Alan on stage and ask questions so that his audience gets to truly know Alan.
Joining Alan Cumming on Monday, March 14 will be Broadway star Matt Doyle, best known for his work in "Spring Awakening," "War Horse" and "The Book of Mormon."
Alan Cumming has appeared in numerous films, television shows and plays. On Broadway, he appeared as the master of ceremonies in "Cabaret" (for which he won a Tony Award), "Design for Living," "The Threepenny Opera," and in a one-man adaptation of "Macbeth." Cumming also appears on "The Good Wife," for which he has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and a Satellite Award.
Marti Gould Cummings grew up on a farm in Maryland. He moved to New York City in 2005 to pursue his passion for musical theater but discovered an even bigger career in the city's cabaret scene, where he hosts shows nearly every night of the week.
