Sex Down South Discusses The Politics of Pleasure

Now in its second year, Sex Down South makes the political personal with its The Politics of Pleasure themed sex conference! Continuing its mission to engage the Southeast's diverse communities in healthy conversations around sex and sexuality, and following its successful 2015 inaugural conference, Sex Down South returns to Atlanta, October 13-15 at the Hilton Atlanta hotel. ���

Sex Down South has the distinction of being the only sexuality conference in the United States spearheaded by a sexually and racially diverse management team, and presenting a wide range of workshops, moderated by often marginalized voices. Sex Down South has gone even farther this year to be a true reflection of their crew, learning that focus does not mean exclusivity. Everyone is welcome to Sex Down South!

While the 2015 conference focused on sex and spirituality -- taking its cues from the conference's location in the "Bible Belt" -- this year's conference pulls its theme from the current election cycle. "The Politics of Pleasure" theme focuses on how we incorporate the personal into our political life, and how the politics that create our beliefs help to shape our pleasurable experiences.

Featuring a diverse offering of workshops including, "Permission to Receive Pleasure -- Achieve a Pleasure Based Lifestyle from the Neck Down," "Asians and Sex: How Policies and Media Affect Sexual Stereotypes and Health of Asian Americans," and "Megasexual: Demystifying and Destigmatizing the Slut," the 2016 Sex Down South conference hopes to create an inclusive space for all participants to learn and explore.

Speaking on this year's conference lineup, Sex Down South co-founder, Marla Renee Stewart, says "This year we wanted to expand people's minds by offering more advanced ways of looking at sexuality. �We wanted to go beyond what you can google. �We want people to come to the conference with an open mind and an open heart to get the tools they need to ensure that their sexual lives will be better."

Not just educational in nature, The Sex Down South conference also includes lots of fun activities including brown bag lunches, sexy demos and guided activities, and their exclusive Big Bang Event ball, featuring a seemingly endless evening of flirtatious revelry and deliciously diverse entertainment!
