Idle Muse Theatre Company Announces Athena Festival

From November 19-20, Idle Muse Theatre Company opens Season Eleven in November with the now annual Athena Festival, celebrating plays written and directed by women, curated by ensemble member Sara Robinson.
The 2016 lineup includes staged readings of Chicago playwright Tiffany Oglesby's "Where Have They Gone?," directed by Sonita L. Surratt; "Watch Me Burn" by New York playwright Rae Binstock, directed by Idle Muse ensemble member Sara Robinson; "Tempest in a Teapot" by Californian playwright Shualee Cook, directed by Bec Willett; and "Reckoning" by Chicago playwright Jenny Seidelman, directed by Katherine Seigel.
Idle Muse Theatre Company will open the season with the Athena Festival. The festival was devised to provide a greater voice and representation for women in Chicago theater. Athena is the Greek goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature. Likewise, Athena Festival features staged readings of plays by diverse women playwrights, directed by women, and featuring women in prominent roles.
