READ TIME: 2 MIN.

To mark Women's History Month,Artemisia Theatreand ShawChicago Theaterpresent"Her Words, Her Voice," a dialogue between women about their experiences in the Chicago theater industry. The event takes place March 9that 3 p.m.and will be live streamedon social media.

This open conversation includes a panel of persons of diverse intersectional identities from across the Chicago theater community, including Delia Kropp, who recently made history as the first transgender actress to portray Charlotte Von Mahlsdorf in "I Am My Own Wife," for About Face Theatre. Earlier in 2016 she created the role of Ondi Rivers for the world premiere of "Raggedy And." These were her first stage roles since gender transitioning. Prior to that, she acted and directed in the Chicago theatre community since 1979.

The panel will examine what women of different genders and ethnicities face in Chicago theater and how the community can move forward. This will be broadcast as aFacebook Live event on ShawChicago's and Artemisia's respective Facebook pages. Viewers will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions to panel members.

Visionary, female-driven and timeless, Artemisia creates theater that empowers women and engages the audience directly in its mission by fully producing their favorite play from an annual Fall Festival of staged readings. In just five years, Artemisia has produced 29 plays as staged readings, four world premieres chosen by audience vote and a feminist Shakespeare.

"Visiting," the undisputed favorite from the 2015 Fall Festival, is an unflinching exploration of the impact of bipolar disorder on four generations of women and the life-affirming discoveries a young woman makes about herself and her future. This world premiere opens April 14 and runs through May 7 at the Edge Theater.

ShawChicago is a professional non-profit theater company founded in 1994 with a mission to present the plays of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries as concert readings. Operating under an Actors' Equity contract, ShawChicago celebrates its 23rd season, "Dysfunctional Family Fun." The company presents special afternoon performances for senior citizens throughout the Chicagoland area.

ShawChicago also offers outreach performances across the city and its suburbs, providing theater to libraries, retired living communities and schools. ShawChicago is a theater company in residence at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts.
