Watch: After Suffering Heart Attack, 'Biggest Loser' Trainer Opens Up
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
"The Biggest Loser" host and trainer Bob Harper is opening up after suffering a heart attack in February.
The out fitness guru stopped by the "Today" show Tuesday and spoke with host Savannah Guthrie about the heart attack and how it's changed him.
"I'm going through some depression. You really face your mortality," Harper, 51, said. "And I'm really understanding what's important, and what's really important in life. And let me tell you...I am not sweating the small things anymore."
The trainer went on to say. "I care about my friends. I care about my family. I care about my dog. I am going to appreciate every single day that I'm here."
He explains there were doctors in the gym when he collapsed and that they saved his life. The "Biggest Loser" host added he doesn't remember much about the day but he was informed he fell after going to the gym at the end of a Crossfit workout.
"I was in full cardiac arrest. My heart stopped. Not to be dramatic, but I was dead. I was on that ground dead," he said on "Today."
The Associated Press reported in February the heart attack left him unconscious for two days. At the time, Harper, who has been on all 17 seasons of "The Biggest Loser," said the doctors who were at the gym performed CPR on him. The fitness personality said he spent eight days in a New York hospital.
Speaking on "Today," Harper said he was confused when he woke up in the hospital.
"I was like Dory from 'Finding Nemo' because I had this short-term memory, so I was reliving the heart attack over and over again," he said. "I was like, wait, why am I here? What happened to me? And 10 minutes later I was asking the same thing and getting super emotional."
Harper also did a Facebook Live interview via the "Today" show. Watch both interviews with the trainer below.
