Out Singer Troye Sivan Joins Cast of Gay Conversion Drama
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Pop star Troye Sivan has found his latest project: A coming out drama based on a memoir about gay conversion therapy.
Directed by Joel Edgerton, "Boy Erased" is based on the Garrard Conley's book "Boy Erased: A Memoir of Identity, Faith and Family" where the author opens up about being outed as gay during his freshman year at college in Arkansas.
This film's lead will be played by Lucas Hedges, the Oscar-nominated actor from the 2016 drama "Manchester By the Sea."
Along with Hedges, "Boy Erased" will star Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman, out director Xavier Dolan, Cherry Jones and Michael "Flea" Balzary of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Sivan took to Twitter to share the news with his fans.
Edgerton, who received a Best Actor Oscar nomination last year for his role in "Loving," also tweeted about "Boy Erased" Thursday.
This isn't the first time the "Wild" singer has appeared on film. He starred in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," playing a younger version of Hugh Jackman's character. He also had a role in the "Spud" franchise.
