If you're looking for a beverage to serve at your next dinner party, MillerCoors should be at the top of your list.
The company announced in a press release this week that they have raised $72,000 for the LGBT community from their 2017 "Tap Into Change" program.
The program, formerly known as "Great Cents," donates a percentage from every MillerCoors product sold at local bars and restaurants to nonprofit organizations that are fighting for LGBT equality in select cities nationwide. According to the company's news release, in 2017 the program donated $300,000 towards LGBT nonprofit organizations.
The Milwaukee brewing company made history by being the first alcohol beverage industry to provide domestic partner benefits. One of its largest partnerships is with the Human Rights Campaign, who has given the company a 100 percent rating on their Corporate Equality Index for the past 14 years.
Jason Bricker, director of corporate relations at HRC, said this type of support is what allows their organization to thrive.
"MillerCoors has supported the Human Rights Campaign since 1995 through various event sponsorships within the organization both locally and nationally. This level of support and commitment allows our organization to thrive and continue to do the work we do for the LGBTQ community," said Bricker.
MillerCoors other partnerships include the Matthew Shepard Foundation and Out and Equal, and the company has also been awarded the "Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality," for nine consecutive years.
With "Tap Into Change" entering its sixth year Karina Diehl, MillerCoors director of community affairs, believes this is only the beginning.
"We are thrilled with the results of this year's "Tap Into Change" program," said Diehl. "As a company that celebrates Pride all year long, we'll continue to extend our support to the LGBTQ community through long-standing partnerships, like HRC, and our employee resource group: LAGER (LGBTQ and Allies Group Employee Resources)."
