Early 00s pop star and songwriter Teddy Geiger took to Instagram Thursday to reveal they've started a transition process, Rolling Stone reports.
After a fan asked about the singer's changing appearance, Geiger, 29, replied in an Instagram post, sharing a screen shot of their exchange.
"I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends about a month ago and it's given me the courage to start the process," Geiger wrote. They did not reveal more details of their transition or preferred pronouns at press time.
"Love it or hate [it], this is who I have been for a looooong time," they continued. "I love you guys."
Friday morning, the singer posted a selfie, with the caption: "Woke up to so much love. I have the best friends."
Geiger is best known for their 2006 single "For You I Will (Confidence)." They first gained fame on the VH1 reality show "In Search of the Partridge Family" and later launched a solo career.
The singer found recent success as a songwriter, penning songs for One Direction and Shawn Mendes. Geiger cowrote Mendes's hits "Stitches," "Treat You Better" and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me back." All three songs reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
