Halloween

It is, of course, open to interpretation, but for this reviewer there is no on-screen slasher scarier than Michael Myers. With his slow stalk, expressionless mask and wielded knife that's eager to plunge into anyone who gets in his way, Myers is the pinnacle of horror and rightfully one of the most iconic cinematic killers of all time. Through John Carpenter's direction (and his original score) the movie is like a living, breathing piece of film history that continues to influence to this day.

In fact, we have a new "Halloween" sequel set to be released this month, marking the 40th anniversary of this notable work that, in 2006, was selected for preservation in the United States Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

In celebration of its four decades of scaring the bejesus out of viewers and paving the way for endless slasher films influenced by it (some good, some great, some terrible), "Halloween" has been issued a new 4K Ultra HD release. For those craving the best possible video and audio quality while indulging in some seasonal horrors this October, this release is a must-have.

There are a collection of bonus features on the 4K release. These include:

Audio Commentary with Writer/Director John Carpenter and Actor Jamie Lee Curtis
"The Night She Came Home" Featurette
"On Location: 25 Years Later" Featurette
 TV Version Footage
 Trailer
 TV Spots
 Radio Spots

Whether you're preparing for the new version or you want to catch up on the old, this new release of John Carpenter's "Halloween" is a worthy purchase for film buffs and horror fans alike.
