Lady Gaga has signed on to star in Ridley Scott's upcoming film "Gucci," about the tumultuous but iconic family of fashion, Deadline reports. This will be the first film project for Lady Gaga since her critically acclaimed performance in the 2018-remake of "A Star is Born" with Bradley Cooper.
Lady Gaga will star as Patrizia Reggiani, ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci. Reggiani was convicted for arranging Gucci's assassination in 1995 and sentenced to 26 years in prison. Reggiani was released for good behavior after serving 18 years. Prior to their divorce, the couple had two daughters before Gucci left Reggiani for another woman. In Reggiani's sentencing, her daughters asked the court for leniency, arguing that a brain tumor was responsible for their mother's actions.
Other actors in talks for joining the "Gucci" cast include Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Jared Leto, Reeve Carney, Jack Huston, and Adam Driver.
"Gucci" will begin filming after Scott wraps his latest, "The Last Duel," which is set to resume filming next week after temporarily halting because of the pandemic.
